Creating Age Friendly Communities Audit Tool

Overview

The Age Friendly Audit Tool is a digital data capture tool that has been developed to assist Local Governments in conducting the Age-readiness review component within the broader planning process.

The Audit Tool allows Local Governments and communities to ‘map and gap’ age friendly community features and identify priority projects.

The Audit Tool audits the location, condition and convenience of community and transport infrastructure and services, and other features applicable to the principles of Age Friendly Communities and has the ability to generate rich reports and export into a number of formats, including a Microsoft Word document or PDF.

Completion of the Audit Tool produces a comprehensive report that will assist Local Governments to identify projects for prioritisation and assist in informing the wider age friendly community plan that will guide future activities and investments.

Accessing the Tool

The Audit Tool has been developed as a generic age friendly community template in the SafetyCulture web program. It can be accessed online at www.safetyculture.com.au/SafetyCloud/ or through the iAuditor app for mobile devices, available for free download from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

Please note that WDC is only sharing and supporting Wheatbelt Local Governments with the Age Friendly Communities template.

Planning your Audit process - Important

Individual Local Governments will need to consider the level of detail they would like in their final Audit reports and customize the template to suit. An example of this is the “Footpaths” question within the “Transport and Movement” section.  Councils may choose to audit any number of footpaths within their town and can duplicate these questions as many times as necessary in order to facilitate this.

Full consideration needs to be given to the content and extent of the Audit before commencing. Once an Audit has commenced and data has been entered, the template cannot be edited. Should you wish to add to the Audit you will be unable to transfer existing data unless done manually.

The below PDF provides a comprehensive overview of the questions within the Audit Tool and can assist Local Government in planning and developing a template suitable for their community.
