Wheatbelt celebrates refurbishments of health centres

The Wyalkatchem-Koorda Health Service has been modernised with $4.2 million being spent on the redevelopment of the facility.  

Improvements include a new activity room, refurbished patient bathrooms, kitchens and a new veranda. A new consult room and private triage room have been created adjacent to the emergency department, where the reception and waiting room have also been redeveloped. State-of-the-art internal communications such as the introduction of a wireless network, will transform the overall experience for patients at the health service.

On 15 November the Minister for Health, Hon Roger Cook opened the Pingelly Health Centre (as pictured) following a $9.2 million investment. 

The new Health Centre is an outstanding example of how innovative technology, new infrastructure and improved patient systems deliver modern day healthcare services. 

The new facility features a state-of-the-art emergency department with two treatment bays, a procedure room including a computerised x-ray service, a general practitioner suite including consulting rooms and a shared procedure room. There are also four multipurpose telehealth-enabled consult rooms. 

A strong collaboration between the local art committee and local artist Tony Pankiw saw the delivery of the 'Pingelly Arising' sculpture, located outside the entrance symbolising the Heath Centre’s focus - to build and grow strong families.  Read full media release here… 

The Shire of Williams now proudly hosts a newly constructed health centre.  The $4 million Health Centre was opened 23 November by Agricultural Region MLC Darren West, representing Health Minister Roger Cook. 

The new Centre is part of the biggest capital works program ever completed by the WA Country Health Service. It boasts innovative technology, state-of-the-art internal communications, modern infrastructure and patients will benefit from enhanced clinical service access through telehealth. Telehealth connects local clinicians on site with specialist support where needed in an aesthetically pleasing environment. Agricultural Region MLC Laurie Graham, representing the Minister for Health recently opened the Beverley and Quairading health services following completion of redevelopment works. 

A combined total of $8.6 million was invested into both health services. The $5.4 million upgrade to the Beverley Health Service included the construction of three new consultation rooms for allied health staff and a resuscitation and treatment room. Improvements have also been made to the kitchen, the entrance and car park along with improved ambulance access. 

The Quairading Health Service included the refurbishment of the kitchen, the medical records room and creation of a new multipurpose consultation room. The new emergency suite features resuscitation and treatment bays, a triage room and pathology area to the value of $3.2 million. 

These infrastructure projects are part of a modernisation program supported by Royalties for Regions and taking place across the WA Country Health Service.  Read full media release here…
