WDC Board out and about in the Wheatbelt South

The Wheatbelt Development Commission Board met in Wagin 14/15 October and took the opportunity to have a look around town and meet with Shire representatives and local businesses.

Guest speakers Brent Hope and Jason Reed from UniGrain spoke about the Wagin site operations, labour supply issues, exporting to global markets and the reasons for locating the business in Wagin.

Marc and Leonie Brummelman from Wagin Duck and Game spoke about the free range farming methods, the processing facility, exporting to Asian markets and their reasons for locating in Wagin.

Peter Webster, CEO and Cr Phil Blight, President, Shire of Wagin hosted a tour of town highlighting State Government projects such as Wagin Cottage Homes and local businesses such as UniGrain, Gilmac Hay, Wagin Aero Services and the Cingulan Space satellite tracking station.

The Board welcomed Brendan Hammond, Chair of the WA Regional Development Trust to discuss the regional development portfolio.
