This year the Commission welcomed new staff members Daniel Waterhouse and Kristy Lam.

Daniel grew up on a wheat and sheep farm in Maya, on the border of Dalwallinu and Perenjori Shires.  In 2001/02 he enrolled in the Aeronautics program at Kent Street SHS but did not complete this after realising he was scared of heights. After a variety of roles in the Agricultural industry he studied Politics/ International Relations and Social Justice at Notre Dame University.  After a stint as site manager for CBH, Daniel was discovered by WDC Research Officer Rebecca Kelly whilst employed at the Osborne Park Bowling Club and began work with the Commission in July this year.

Kristy grew up in the northern suburbs of Perth and studied Pharmacy at Curtin University in 1999/02. After living in the UK in 2006/07, she travelled to Europe, Russia, the Americas, setting foot in every continent except for Antarctica and in 2011 she hiked the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea. Kristy recently completed a degree in Environmental Engineering at UWA and was involved in the Cross Faculty Wheatbelt project with other students from engineering, urban planning and communications who worked together developing projects in Wheatbelt towns.
