Northam and surrounding community members have eagerly watched the erection of much needed shade at the Northam Boulevard and to the surprise of many it comes with the added bonus of solar panels.

The innovative transformation undertaken by Perdaman Advanced Energy has seen the installation of 900 solar panels that will generate over one million kilowatt hours a year of power for the busy Boulevard shopping precinct.

The project is a first of its kind in WA. It contributes to the Wheatbelt’s vibrant economy using the natural environment to offer a dual purpose renewable energy solution.

Further upgrades include the merging of Northam Boulevard and Northam Arcade to create a shopping/community hub with a new medical centre, revitalised shopping mall and improved retail spaces, providing opportunities for new jobs and business growth.
