Wheatbelt Health Planning Initiative

The Wheatbelt Health Memorandum Of Understanding (Health MOU) group is a partnership between the Western Australian Country Health Service, Wheatbelt (WACHS, Wheatbelt), Wheatbelt General Practice (WGPN), the Avon-Midland, Central and Great Eastern Country Zones and the Wheatbelt Development Commission.  The purpose of the Wheatbelt Health MOU group is to provide a framework for the parties regarding continual communication / engagement, structures and processes that will enhance health service delivery within the WACHS – Wheatbelt Region.

In March 2009 the Health MOU group engaged Marguerite Tohl, Director, MMT Consultancy Services to undertake the Wheatbelt Health Planning Initiative project.  The project has been designed to incorporate past health papers and reviews, gathering information from the Wheatbelt community through community consultations and to prepare a report to inform future health planning for the Wheatbelt WACHS region.

The community consultations will take place during June 2009.  They will be held in twelve locations throughout the Wheatbelt region.  The meetings will be held in: Boddington, Beverley, Corrigin, Gingin, Jurien Bay, Koorda, Lake Grace, Merredin, Moora, Narrogin, Northam and Southern Cross.  Two meetings have been arranged for each location.

A Booklet with information about your community and the current health issues facing rural communities are available on this website (see Community Booklets).  The booklets also contain information on the dates and venues for each community consultation.  The booklets are also available at your Shire office.

If you would like to find out more about the community consultations or would like to register your interest please contact Pip Shields at the Wheatbelt Development Commission P: (08) 9881 5888 or E: pipshields@wheatbelt.wa.gov.au
